PlayBox Neo announces the completion of a broadcast-quality playout system for Northwestern University at its main campus in Evanston, Illinois. Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, Media & Marketing Communications is a leading producer of Academy Award-winning, Emmy Award-winning and Pulitzer Award-winning writers.

The recently completed installation comprises a ProductionAirBox Neo, TitleBox Neo graphics and a twin-channel CaptureBox Neo.

"The challenge we faced was to find a versatile, efficient and operator-friendly solution that would integrate easily with our newsroom," says Northwestern University's Broadcast Production Manager Luis Palacios.

"We made a careful study of all the playout solutions currently on the market and identified PlayBox Neo as the logical choice given its long experience, proven track record in technical support and very wide user base. ProductionAirBox Neo gives us a wide range of media manipulation and delivery tools. We also gain the flexibility to handle a very wide range of file formats and resolutions."

"TitleBox Neo is closely integrated into the system, enabling the team to perform a wide range of channel branding tasks directly from the ProductionAirBox Neo graphic interface. Graphics are coordinated from a selection of styles preconfigured as templates to ensure coherent branding. Program titles, credits, text crawlers, messages, logos and interstitials can all be processed quickly with full control of running speed and transitions. We can also insert time clocks, multi-slide banners and horizontal or vertical scrolling chat text. It is a powerful system. Any students who get near it also have the advantage that they are working with industry-proven equipment."

CaptureBox Neo allows HD or SD content to be captured from up to four video sources simultaneously. These can be monitored on a single screen and controlled via a streamlined user interface with enhanced multichannel control and operability. Audio levels can be monitored as loudness/true-peak displays and adjusted when required. Ingested content is available for playback seconds after ingest commences. Capture lists can be imported from third-party traffic systems.

"We are delighted to see the continuing popularity of our products in the education sector as well as the broadcast mainstream," adds PlayBox Neo's Director of US Operations, Van Duke. "Many broadcasters now active in the industry first experienced our technology while training for their degrees and carried their good experience of our products and services onward and upward. Our aim is to deliver the most robust and versatile solutions in the market backed by the most experienced support team, all of whom work closely with the actual software and hardware designers at our corporate headquarters."
